ME freezes on splash screen!!!

I've got a machine running on ME with an 800 Duron, when I go to a bigger cpu it freezes on the splash screen, I've made the machine dual boot with XP and can boot to that OK.
Everything is OK apart from this problem.

I need to keep ME, the new cpu is an XP+1800.

I've tried other cpu's over 800 and they all do the same.

Am getting PEED of now..

Hi there.

Boot in Windows Me.
start-run-Msconfig.
get in system configuration utility.
uncheck the all the process excluding system.ini.
and clean up the startup also.

hope it works.
