MDX syntax in ReportStudio 8

Hi everyone,
is there anyone that has started working on the new ReportStudio v.8?
I'm starting a few testing on multidimensional queries accessing PowerPlay cubes, but I'm not able to use even the simplest MDX query capability.
Do you know if there is some Cognos documentation about this topic? Has anyone started playing with success on these features?

Hi,

If you have Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, there are some good MDX documents in the Books Online help. You will find documents such as MDX Overview, Basic MDX, Advanced MDX and Effective MDX, which are certainly a very good starting point in getting to grips with MDX.

Thanks MF, but my point is that MDX functions don't seem to be working... if I select a member of the set 'Month' and I write: Parent(Currentmember(month)) I expect to have the Quarter... but I get the same month! That's why I'm thinking that there is something wrong, maybe in the syntax that can be different...but Cognos guys said to me that ReportStudio uses the standard mdx syntax...

Sorry - I misunderstood your question. The only other MDX documentation I can find with relation to what's supported in Report Studio is in the Report Studio User Guide - Chapter 4 Working with Data - at the end of the "Working with Queries" section. There's about a page and a half specifying that Cognos support the grammar as specified in Microsoft's Data Access SDK version 2.8, and a list of unsupported MDX functions, but Parent is not in the list (as you'd expect).
