My client is asking me if it's possible to install an MDE application I've written on a removable drive, such as a USB flash device.

My immediate response was "I don't think that's possible", but wanted to do a sanity check here.

I'm aware that I can put the data on any drive, but he is asking about the application itself.

Thanks in advance.

Sure - just copy & paste the mde through Windows Explorer.

A butterfly is a bug.
Think about it....

genomon,

Just to clarify - I'm not asking how to move the program. I'm quite familiar with Windows Explorer and other Windows 101 stuff.

My client installs this on his client's remote systems via the PDW package that I have prepared for him. He wants to know if the target drive for the installation of the program can be a USB flash drive.

I don't recommend you use a connected application over a "sometimes on" device like a USB drive. This goes for USB Flash and USB hard drives. Your mileage may vary, but I forsee problems (and have heard of problems) with people losing their connection to the drive randomly. This is of course, death to a "connected database app" like Access.

Otherwise it's fine.
