Yes offcourse... this is high time to change your old MD-110.
No matter it gives you good service but, it is an out dated model and you wont be getting any updares or valid support for this version.
Hope u understand that
regards
1)You can allways upgrade BC6 to latest version - it is BC11 today. Approximatelly 10% of boards will be changed, and new software added - it will cost you less than a new exchange.
The only problem is that DC/DC converters in BC6 exchange are "phased out" - Ericsson does not make them anymore.
But, if you have some spare DC/DC converters or you have a good local maintenance company - then go ahead!
How long will it live? Well, upgrade of exchange will change all system boards that are really important(except DC/DC converters). Other older boards in case of failure can always be replaced with new versions (trunk boards, analog extensions, DTMF receivers...)In case of failure of digital extension board one day-you could change both board and digital telephone....So if you are lucky you could use your MD110 for another 5 or 10 years without problems....
2)Another possibility for you is to ask local Ericsson distributer for "replacement campaign". From time to time Ericsson gives you about 30% discount on new exchange, if you have old Ericsson PBX and replace it with new one. Ericsson takes your old exchange and recycles it.
3)If you want to keep your BC6 as long as it is possible, and use it without new investments, than it depends on how good is your local maintenance company, are they skilled for old systems, do they have spare parts.. I know some digital exchanges from 1984 still working OK (good maintenance people).... and will work certainly some more years...
IMXO, in your case good service is a limited intrusion into the system.
I've more than hundred MD’s LIMs on the net installed 89-91 years.
They have current versions as BC6-BC10.
And I don't see ANY difference in reliability between them and new Consono systems.
The only problem in old MD could be DC/DC converters.
If you have no spare - don't switch them off under any circumstances!
But you will keep this problem forever, even if upgraded to BC11.
Ensure good and reliable power supply, fresh batteries, grounding.
Old digital phones, extension boards, HDU2 and another staff should not be a problem to find as second hand in any country.
I've saw an old HDU with greed covering removable SCSI HDU -removable with just unplugging it - strong thing. With it you can use many SCSI disk, presently in market or second hand market.
