Just wondering if the program for the Training Camp is worth the money It is a 14 day program with cost of tests included. Anyboby gotten certified this way.

Yeah I did my MCSE 2003 at the Training Camp, it's pretty gruelling but for me it was certainly worth it. I think about 10 of us were on the course and only 2 passed all 7 exams, both of us that did were by far the most experienced and had done MCPs previously in NT and 2000.

If you go there without much experience then I personally don't see how you can keep up with the intensity of the course, so much is crammed in that if you don't understand one thing there's really not much time to go over it - although the instructor is available 24x7.

The days are tough, training starts at 9am, 1-1:30pm is lunch, then its classroom training again until 9pm with I think 45 minutes for dinner. Also although the classroom training ends around 9pm you get about 3-4 hours of work to do before the next day (review questions to answer, chapters of a book to read and self-test software to run through). I think I did 18-20 hour days for the first week - it's kinda funny to see the state of people gradually degrade during the week at the breakfast table (I think by the end half of the people weren't even making it to breakfast). Second week I relaxed a bit and rather than blindly trying to do all the reading given to us I'd focus on the parts I knew I was weak on so I was only doing 16 hour days for the second week.

It's not actually as bad as it might sound, the way the content is taught is very good and the only time I felt like dozing off was during the official MS video presentations. On your standard 5-day Microsoft 9-5 course I'm always struggling to stay awake after 2pm so it's not like I'm super-attentive :p

Although by about day 10 you swear you'll never do something like this again I'm just about to sign up for their 7-day messaging specialist bootcamp. For me I know the format works and I never have the motivation to self-study but at the Training Camp there's nothing else to do so you just get on with it.

I have just completed the 14 day MCSE with Training Camp - I am very tired but more importantly I am an MCSE 2003!

Mainlad,

Congrats! Did you have any other Microsoft certs before you started the Training Camp?

Wishdiak,

No other certs - but been in IT for last 4 years - just never got round to do any certs before.
