Hello to all, I am trying to get MCSA certified in Windows 200, so far I have passed the following:

Windows 2000 Professional Exam 70-210
Windows 2000 Server Exam 70-215
Managing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Environment 70-218
A+ Certified
Certified Novell Administrator

I believe I still need to take one more elective exam to get my MCSA....questions is...what next test should i take?? there are many elective,,which is the easiest in your opinion? your input will be greatly appreciated...Thanks

What exam will be the easiest will depend on what your strengths are. When I got my MCSA the easiest exam for me was a SQL 2000 test. But then I'm a DBA.

If you work with Exchange a lot then an Exchange exam will probably be your best bet. if an ISA guy, then an ISA exam, etc.

Also think forward and see how the exam you choose now will help towards the next cert that you want to go for.

MCSA (2003) / MCDBA (SQL 2000)
MCTS (SQL 2005 / Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: Configuration / Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007: Configuration)
MCITP Database Administrator (SQL 2005) / Database Developer (SQL 2005)

Network + is fairly simple but, like mrdenny said,it really depends on what your strenghts are.

Good luck!!

CCns23 I do not see Network+ as an elective on the MCSA on windows 2000 site....??...

mrdenny...funny thing is that in my network I do not use IIS, do not uses Databases, do not use Exchange,...lol...I do know alot aobut networking the 70-218 was very easy to me..my options to get my MCSA are:

70-284
70-089
70-224
70-216
70-214

Of those which do u think is the easiest one?? is exahnge 200 or 2003 easy?? If anything I should take one of those since most emplyers like that..but i rather take an easier one first, get my MCSA then work on Exchange...thanksw

Unfornitually I haven't taken any of those exams. And they don't appear on the thread we have to track how hard exams are thread468-1306787. Hopefully someone else will comment.

Oops, you're right. I was thinking MCSA for 2003. For 2000, you can take Security + OR A+ and Server + to fulfill the elective part.

Security + isn't too bad. Never took Server +, but I can't imagine it's terribly difficult.

I already have the A+ however i got this in 2001..does it still count?? do u think that security+ or server+ is easier then 70-284 and 70-216??....i jut need to take the easier one to get my MCSA then upgrade to 2003 ...which of the 4 do u think is the easier one??..do u think the comptia ones are easier than micrsoft's??..if so, is security+ easier than server+?? thanks so much for your help

Well, I have never taken the Server + exam, but the Security + exam can be tricky. Took me 3 times to pass it, but I eventually did. Can't speak to the other tests since I have not taken them (I'm working on the MCSA 2003 track right now).

Wish I could be of more help.

netadmin06 i took exactly the same route as you then had to pause for ages due to work pressure, i finished of with the MCDST cert for my elective i found it pretty straight forward 70-271 930 and 70-272 940. If you're familiar with XP to the level that you were with 2k when you took 70-210 then you should be fine for 70-271, then you just need to work on Office and Outlook/Exchange skills for 70-272.

Thanks pinkpanther but wouldn't that mean that id have to take 2 exams instead of one to get my MCSA?

Yes it would but you asked which path 'which is the easiest in your opinion?' and this way you gain an additional certification for little extra effort but a few more $$$.

Thanks I think that I will take the 70-216 because i just passed the 70-218 last week and it seems like they are similar

thanks again

Ok no probs. Be aware that 70-216 is apparently the most difficult exam in the 2k MCSE series and it was the most failed exam. The questions focus heavily on Routing and Remote access, DNS and WINS so make sure that you know them inside out.

Good luck.

I hear that the 70-216 is hart too so I am preparing to take the Exam 70–224.......anyone took this?

I am sorry I meant the 70-284 not the 70-224..anyone took the 70-284?

70-284 is pretty easy. If you work in Exchange daily, you can pass it.

MCSA / MCSE 2003

70-298 ?
70-284 ?
70-285 ?
640-801 ?
640-861 ?
