I am just completing the CCNA certification and going to start the MCSA and then complete the MCSE. I have been working in IT for several years so I have a fundamental knowledge in the Microsoft environment but definitely want to prepare the most effective way for the exams. Can anyone provide the best training materials - books, CBT's, etc that prepare you well for the tests? I am hoping to take a test every 2 weeks to complete the program at an accelerated pace.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks again,

JD

1 - Setup a lab. You can get eval copies of 2003 server, ISA, everything. Setup a lab.

2 - Get books. I have used ExamCram. Just follow the exercises.

3 - See it in real life if possible. It's one thing to set it up to "Microsoft thinking" guidelines. It's more important to see it applied in real life. Microsoft is not the end all. Don't let MS certifications and test questions affect your performance and real-life application. You will not make it in IT if you apply MS thinking to every situation. Microsoft is only 100% correct when they right their exam questions. Most people I know don't user MS Server boxes to route traffic in their WAN/VPNs. No one cares to use ICS anyway...

4 - Break it and fix it. Make problems for yourself and see what it takes to fix that problem. Go blast everything away from DNS after a dcpromo. Then study up and find the proper method of restoration. It may not be an exam question, but it will open you up to paths and methods of fixing problems that you are questioned about in the cert exam.
