I have an M2008 with ext 5290 on key 0… I have another M2008 with 5290 on key 1. Can I change 5290 to MCR on those two phones as well as on key 1 on three other Spectralink phones (LTB 100s) that are built as M2616s?

if you OUT all the appearences, then yes, you may replace with MCR of that DN

You can’t mix MCR with SCR or SCN, its one or the other.

So, do you mean I nul 5290 on key 0 of the one M2008 and then nul 5290 on key 1 of the other M2008...then go back in an put 5290 back as MCR on one M2008 on key 0 and back on the other M2008 on key 1 and on each Spectralink on key 1...correct?

I just whipped up this "Example of MCR" document to demonstrate some faults with the feature. There are work-arounds, but it's best to know how it operates before you have to search for the fix.

Is setting MARP an issue with MCR?

Whatever TN is the "MARP" TN for the MCR will determine where it FDNs on no-answer, and where it will HUNT, when all appearances are busy.

Just remember, when the MCR is "Ringing" all appearances are busy.

One other question, guys...As I mentioned, I set up ext 5290 as an MCR ext. Since then I have also set up ext 5291 as an MCR ext. They are both in the same dept. Right now the FDN and Hunt settings on 5290 is 5291 and the FDN and Hnt settings on 5291 is 5290. Should I change that? The MCR ext 5290 is MARP'd to the phone with 5290 on key zero. The MCR ext 5291 is MARP'd to the phone with 5291 on key zero.

I agree. Sounds to me like you can have two calls ringing at any time. Any more will just receive BUSY

Please bear with my feeble brain...;-)
Both MCR exts appear on the same 5 phones - two M2008s and three Spectralinks. If I remove the FDN and HUNT settings above, will everything function as it should, meaning multiple calls to each ext will ring all the phones except those already on calls?

If it were me, I would not even use MCR. I'd just have a series of DNs on the phone in a linear hunt up the keys. Allocate enough DN KEYS to meet the estimated number of callers the group could handle at any time.

However, if your call volume is extremely low, and no more than one person at any time will dial the MCR DN, then your MCRs will work fine.

The best example is this: Let's say 10 people have a reason to dial the MCR DN at the same time. Only one of them is going to hear a "ring" - the rest will be treated by the HUNT, or just get a busy signal.

So, if I understand correctly, I should leave it the way I have it...if 2 simultaneous calls come in to 5290, one of them will hunt to 5291 which is also MCR or vice versa. Otherwise, one call coming in at a time will ring all phones except those currently on calls. Am I right or are you guys rolling on the floor laughing at my ignorance ;-)

I just have a "thing" against MCR, because it is so misunderstood.

Here is the best news of the day. You have it working right now? Watch it for a day. Call it yourself - maybe go man one of the phones while a partner arranges for many people to call it at once.

If it works, you are all set. If not (here is the good news), you can change it
