Hi according to my Certification Planner I need one more exam to get my MCSA 2003 server.

70-270 passed
70-290 passed
Comptia A+ and Network+ Passed

Just need 70-291

Now if I look at the Certificate planner for MCSA 2003 Security

I need 70-290 70-270 70-291 and two security ellectives.

Now two of the ellectives stated are Comptia Security+ AND Comptia A+ and Comptia Security+.

Now I have A+, Network+, Security+, and Server+. So really I have both Security+ AND A+ and Security+. According to the certificate planner I have both security specialisations :p

Does this really count? ;)

TheBully - A+, Network+, Linux+, Server+, Security+, MCP.

thebully,

70-270, 70-290, 70-291, and an elective = MCSA.

70-270, 70-290, 70-291, Security+ and another elective = MCSA Security.

I got mine with 70-270, 70-290, 70-291, Security+, and 70-299, although there are other options for that second elective.

cheers it just seemed confusing that a+ and security+ is listed along side security+ on the certification planner. My plan is to pass 70-291 then 70-293, 70-294 and 70-298.

70-298 and Security+ should be enough for MCSE Security specialisations I think.

thebully,

Look closer. Microsoft specifically states you need to pass the following for MCSA Security:

Core Exams (Two Exams Required) - 70-290 & 70-291
Client Operating System (One Exam Required) - 70-210 or 70-270
Core Security (Two Exams Required) - 70-299, 70-227, 70-350, Security+

So while 70-298 is required for MCSE Security, it's not anywhere on the list for MCSA Security.

For what it's worth, 70-299 was the most difficult Microsoft exam I've taken. What I've heard from others is that 70-298 is not as difficult.

Well my plan is to pass 70-291 and get my MCSA then 70-293 and 70-294. Then I think taking 70-299 and 70-298 should be enough for MCSE security.

Although its probably worth me taking 70-293 after 70-291 rather than going straight to 70-299 as I hear that 70-293 is very similar to 70-291 and my brain will be in networking mode at that point.

thebully,

Good plan. In my experience, 70-293 was a natural follow up to 70-291. 70-299 and 70-298 seem to go together in the same way, although I haven't taken 70-298 yet.

There's something about working 2 jobs that seems to get in the way of studying for me.
