I have 2 BCM 400's 4.0 and 3.6 with 12 voip trunks between them. They have both been fully patched, and calls are paasing thru both however the caller id is not working with the extensions. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yes MCDN is installed at both sites

Add a business name to each BCM.
Ensure the "Send Name Display" box is checked on your 4.0's on the IP Trunk Settings tab.
If any of your BCM's are connected to a PRI from a 5ESS, make sure you disable Send Name on that span.

Actually both BCMs have PRI's connected to them, and we did notice at one point that we could not make outbound calls on the 4.o because that send name was checked. What does the send name from that span prevent you from having?

AT&T (5ESS) and Nortel seem to have implemented different options to the NI protocol. If you try to send name display to a 5E switch, it doesn't understand it, or allow it, and just shuts the call down.

Since Business Name was required to pass CLID between systems using MCDN, this was a huge problem for a few years. Nortel finally implemented an option for PRI configurations that allows you to say Y or N to Name Display on that span.

So .... for name display to work correctly:
1) Configure a Business Name. I suggest putting a space at the end and as I remember you are limited to 7 characters.
2) Configure set names.
3) Configure Private OLI for your set.
4) Enable it on your VoIP trunks.

Hope this helps!
