I am connecting an Ipocket to my MCD 5.0 to test some PMS functions and the challenge I am having is for the MCD to see the Ipocket. I have given the Ipocket a static IP of 192.168.3.247 and programed the Ipocket ethernet the same but when I try to ping the Ipocket from the maintenance commands there is no response. Any ideas as to what I am missing? If I connect a computer to the same line and give it an IP address of 192.168.3.247 I can ping it.
thanks in advance.

please share screen shots of your ipocket & PBX configuration (hotel options)

I have seen the PMS connection go down on the PBX due to bad comm.

If it is not responding to ENQ and the options are turned on, then I would be considering a reboot.

@pandabear the screenshot for ipocket earlier has incorrect settings, serial protocol etc so if it is 'as above' then it is still wrong. If you have changed please send updated screen shots

these are the settings which I have changed a number of times, I believe what I have is what you suggested bobcheese and I have also done it according to the docs. The interesting thing here is the first screen shot is how I programed the Ipocket then I ran the PMS simulator and notice the "protocol" field has changed, not sure why that would be.

all looks ok to me. I would set remote port to 15374 also and protocol MUST be telnet client or it will never attempt to connect to the PBX. Have you tried a reboot of the PBX?

thanks bobcheese, no I haven't tried a reboot, I was hoping to exhaust all other possibilites first and I guess that is where we are now. I will have to schedule a date and time to do that. I will post the results.

I finally got this to work, the problem was a network problem, from the start I could not ping the Ipocket and was not sure if I could, I tried pinging the one on my 200ICP and that worked so knew it could be done. Thanks to all who replied especially you bobcheese for being so patient. I did get it to work the way you mentioned and also the way the docs lay out.

In the original post you stated:
If I connect a computer to the same line and give it an IP address of 192.168.3.247 I can ping it.

How was this possible if there was a network problem?

I am no network guy by any means but the subnet I put the Ipocket on was the voice one and then I moved it to the data network. I did hook my computer up to that address and the computer worked and I could ping the computer but not the Ipocket for some reason and that is what threw me off, so changed to the data network and could ping. There was no way the PMS was going to work without seeing the Ipocket. Someone wih a better understanding of networks will have to explain that one. Would be interesting to know.

forget the ipocket for now. If it doesnt work on the simulator it will never work on the ipocket

BobCheese - You missed the post where he got it working due to network issues fixed.

I was just trying to understand how network issues were possible as his first post seemed to eliminate that possibility.
