Hopefully I can explain this...

Types of phones 5340e's

So I have Ext. 2248 and 2234 set up the exact same way for keys.

So a call comes in to DID 1234 and it rings the sames keys on these two phones... All of these keys are DN's that are in a ring group. So if 2248 answers the call on that Key that is one of those ext in that ring group... then if 2234 hits that same key they are on then they can here the conversation and she can listen in for training purposes. That all works great...

But.... if 2248 needs to call a customer back... hits one of those keys that are programmed as a keysystem key as one of those ext in the ring group..hits "9" then the number and the customer answers.... when 2234 goes and hit that key to listen in it does not work.. it says select a line on the display.

The diff between the two calls is call coming in from the customer works fine but not the user making a call out and being able to have her new employee listen in. Can this even work at all? Is it some kind of privacy thing?

Hope that makes sense..

Is there a possibility that the trunks used outbound are not the same ones as the ones used for inbound.

I would definitely say this is a privacy thing. You can check the COS of the stations and verify that the option "Privacy Released" is enabled.

There is a possibilty that it is also a timing thing. On the inbound call, the call is known to be in the talk state. On the outbound leg, you may have to wait until a pseudo answer timer expires before the line can be accessed by another party

Thats what it was... had to wait just a few seconds longer and it worked ok.

THANKS!!!! kwbMitel

one more question on this...

is there a way to take the tone away you hear when pressing the key to get in on the call?

Conference
Conference Call Yes
Disable Conference Join Tone No

i set the abov to NO on the COS... but that didn't work

To disable the conference tone it would have to be set to yes. Its Disable Conference Join tone, you want to diable the tone so set it to yes.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

I guess I didn't submit my answer yesterday - LoopyLou got my wording almost exactly

One addition - You may need the setting in the Trunks COS as well
