mcafee virus scan

We just upgraded all machines to Mcafee virus scan v. 4.5.1. Several of our Windows 95 machines hang at startup. When doing a control-alt-delete, vshield is not responding. The only way to get the machines to work right is to disable vshield. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Any ideas??????

Have you had checked their desktop FAQ :
"Why do I sometimes receive fatal exception errors when I load or restart VShield on my Windows 9x system?"

Do you use any security software in conjunction with McAfee?

Is your organization non-profit or educational? If so, you can get free anti-virus protection from Grisoft. Here's a link:

If possible dump mcafee and use something else.

One suggestion McAfee have given in the past is to uninstall and reinstall in safe mode, don't know if this would help here.
