MCA/ATA power adapter, LED always on? 1

Hi All,
We've got a spare MCA adapter card in a 2008 series phone. When I plug the power in the LED doesn't go on. No bent pins or anything. Anyone have an NTP handy for those?NT2k6802 is the part number on the circuit board.

I wonder if maybe it's not supposed to stay lit or something?

According to NTP 553-2731-109, if the LED does not light it indicates a power problem.

I use MCA units for D-Channels on internal PRI circuits. I have found that the phone model needs to be checked, and that the unit needs to be programmed after the phone is programmed and connected. If you try to program it before connecting the phone it won't work.

Other than that I would suspect a bad power supply or MCA unit.

Does that 2008 have a power board in it? Not all of them did. Especially if it wasn't HF or DISP model.

Tralfax7698, thanks, got to get my hands on that NTP, thank you!! Tested with a different power supply-same result, must be the MCA board.

TAnselm, thanks. It is a 2008 Basic, NT2K08GA35, so not HF, don't think it has a power board, but not sure exactly where I'd look to confirm. Under the hood?

From 553-2731-109 Standard 5.00 April 2000:

MCA power supply
When installing an MCA to an NTZK or NT2K phone set with date code prior to January 1998 it requires a Power Option board and a power source.

When installing an MCA in an NT9K phone set or an NT2K with date code of January 1998 you will only install the MCA (an additional Power Option board is not required). For detailed power requirements, refer to Telephone and Attendant Console Installation (553-3001-215).

The MCA for the
international market is powered by the Meridian Digital Telephone. The MCA for the North American phone sets with date code prior to 1998 are powered by an optional power supply source installed within the telephone
set.

If you remove the back from the phone you that is where the power board should be installed. It is a daughter board that has holes in it to match up with the row of like 16 pin in the center of the main processor board and then has pins of it's own that you connect the MCA to. It also has a little cross like hole at the top to help with aligning it properly and when aligned a screw goes through that to secure it to the main board.
