I am using MBSA 2.0 to scan my network. However, on a majority of the computers i get a scan error saying that it cannot scan because it cannot resolve the name. i get the same error when trying to scan with just the IP address. I am pretty sure they are all winXP SP2 computers with the firewall enabled. What ports do i need to open on the firewall? Will that solve my poblem?

Oh, and DNS is working just fine, i think. I can ping an IP address using the -a switch and it will resolve the host name.

Thank you for any help.

check your wins/dns settings on clients because you must be able to ping the machines using hostname
