I just spent an hour going through all of the threads assuming that someone else has had this problem but apparently it's just me.

I recently Got rid of Windows 98 and PWS and moved to Windows 2000 Server along with IIS5.0 and also upgraded to IE6.0

I thought I had everything configured properly but now all of my ASP applications won't run. I've started with the standard htp://localhost/IISADMIN/IIS.ASP file and I keep getting the ever helpful error message "Page Unavailable" error. I can hit an HTML file and display it just fine ... But anything tagged with .ASP gets the error.

In setting up Windows 2000 and IIS5.0, I pretty much took all the defaults and reccomendations.

What have I done that I wasn't supposed to or not done that I was supposed to ?????

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me ...

I may not be exactly sure on what the defaults are but inside internet services manager, right click on the website and go into properties. There you should find a tab that describes script access. there are three options, none, scripts only and script and executable. Make sure that is turned on. Also if that is your IISAdmin it might be set up on a different port than 80. I think it's 2027 so you'd have to say and that should lead you to your admin page.

If anything else just try the page names themselves. whenever you just type the name of the server in, it will look for the "default.html" or default.asp page which is a typicall install for iis5.0

Let me know how that works.

First of all, NEVER EVER SAY YOU ARE STUPID!! There are no stupid questions because everybody started as a beginner. I am an itermediate user and I have LOTS of questions. I'm even going to post an easy one very soon. You might help me!!

Anyway, here some help when using Windows 2000
First, make note of the name of your computer:
go to start>setting>control Panel>System>Network administration tab and check the full computer name. For instance, mine is "odcomputer"
2.Go to explorer and type of your computer/your virtual directory/your page.asp

If it doesn't work, go back to mmc, check your permission
in the virtual directory tab. Make sure that the "read, local visits and index this resource" are checked.
Still in the virtual directory tab, make sure that virtual directory name is present and the button next to it says "Remove". Also check that your execute permission is script only(advised!!)
Any other problems, let me know!!
