Maxtor/Quantum Fireball board failure 1

I have a 60GB Maxtor (Quantum)Fireball Plus AS drive that stopped working in the middle of some work I was doing. I believe I have traced the failure to the onboard controller/logic board (not sure of the correct term). Seems this is a not so uncommon problem with this drive.

I would like to try to replace the circuit board as it appears to be the simplest solution and probably the cheapest. But I need the board.

Does anybody have any ideas on where to locate this board? Preferably someplace in the US.

The drive runs but is not recognized and there is a chip on the board that appears to have exceeded it's thermal limits.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sorry.....I didn't add my handle previously.

Buy another hard drive with EXACTLY the same part numbers
and borrow the board.

Thanks tomaso11.

That is actually my first choice. Bad news is that this drive is discontinued and I have not had any luck locating one. I did locate a supplier for the logic board through a similar posting site but they are located in Malaysia. Takes about a month to get the card. I would prefer something closer to home but may go that route. The board is only about $20US.

Thanks again.
