Hello,

We have 8 computers connected to the same Giga switch.

Server is running windows 2003 Server and Citrix 4.0 Enterp.

Program is Financial Software.

The maximum computers that can run financial software is only 3 and other 5 computers can run without one that has to exit from the software.

what should I do to make all 8 computers to run the software?

Please help and thank you,

Sean

Hi Sean,

Are you saying that users 1 2 and 3 run the application ok. But when 4 5 6 7 8 try to run it someone gets kicked off.

Is this a dongle type application?

[blue] Oh you know, just doing what I do.[/blue]

Cheers

Hello Scott,

User 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 can run the application, long as you are within 3 users. if other user try to run then it doesn't kick out the user, just can't run the program. Someone has to exit out from the program order to run.

No, it's not dongle type but it's getting financial data feed from the internet(only the server)

Thank you and have a wonderful day~~~

Ahh I see so only 3 users at a time ?

There are some settings which can restrict the number of copies at a time running. Its in the CMC you can specify the number of instances to run. Have a look for that.

Right click the application and select properties. Then have a look at restrictions I think it is called.

Hello Scott,

Thank you for helping me out.

CMC means management console for metaframe presentation server, right? (sorry I am new to citrix)

And when I right click the application and select properties, I see application limits tab:

Has Concurrent instances option and have two options:

option 1- Limit instances allowed to run in server farm
option 2 - allow only one instance of application for each user

But noting has been selected.

Any Idea?

Oh.. I am using citrix 3.0 not 4.0

Thank you~~~~~~~~~

SEan

Yes the CMC does mean the Citrix Management Console.

Does this application use something like a license file, it seems to need something to allow only three users concurrently, unless you only have three citrix license which I very much doubt.

Hello Scott,

I am sure but I don't think it use a license file.
And for citrix license, how can I check?

Thank you for everything~~

Sean

Are they logging on as the same user ? i.e. username is the same?

Hello,

No user name is all different.

Thank you for all your help~~~

Is there anything in the event viewer.

Try using filemon and regmon from it should at least tell you what is happening. Be prepared for a long trawl through the data tho.

It might just give you a clue.

I mean what happens, does it just kick them off or are they disconnected or can you still see them in the CMC ?

Hello,

I do see them in the CMC.

But when program start on client computer it stop at starting windows(introucting window and hang).

If someone is logged out from that progam then it starts.

Thank you so much for everything,

Sean

Sounds like it has not been installed correclty to be honest. Or there are apps that just don't play in TS environment properly. Like Voloview.

I would be trying to install again using add remove programs.
