This may be a dumb question, but it was brought up by one of the guys here.
Is there a maximum number of mailboxes allowed within an exchange 5.5 server?
Thanks,
Robo

Thanks, this helps a lot. Since those were tests using simulated users, let me ask you guys another question. What's the largest number of real-world mailboxes do you guys have on an Exchange 5.5 server?

What kinda box? What protocol will you be using? What is your goal? A simulated heavy user with Loadsim will show you real quick if the box will handle what you want to know. Dan

Our system is a sort of strange configuration which is currently being changed. We have four boxes. They are all Compaq ML370's dual pentium III 833's with 2Gb Ram each. Two are in a failover cluster linking to a XIOtech Magnitude SANS box and handle the mailboxes and public folders. One is the old Exchange server and is being used for the internet mail service (soon to be switched to the cluster) and the other is a Mail essentials box with Antigen to send and receive mail. Everthing will soon be just running on the cluster boxes and the other two will more than likely be used for other network tasks.
The organization is not very large, but the question came up on if Microsoft has any kind of Cap or limit on the number of individual mailboxes to be created on an exchange 5.5 server. Or is it basically unlimited as long as you have the drive space and horsepower?
Space and power is what determines everything. Except for Active/Active cluster in 2k which is limited to 1000 users per box with RTM and 1500 per server with SP1 on exchange. Dan
