Hello

I have a project with a couple of forms with quite a few controls spread over a couple of userforms. I haven't hit any maximum limit yet (there's no more to add), but I was wondering - controls on worksheets contribute to the maximum? I did have certain sheets that get duplicated, which each had a couple of buttons on - I've replaced these buttons with Shapes that just run macros, but now I'm wondering if the shapes also contribute to the maximum number of controls in the workbook.

Thanks for any help

Hi,

I assume that "form" means a worksheet?

I always tried to minimize controls. So I'd make them context sensitive. Then you only need ONE control for a range. When you select a cell in the range, the control becomes visible and is positioned appropriately and behaves according to the rules for that range. When you select off the range, the control becomes invisible.

Ah sorry I mean a userform. There are several userforms that have quite a lot of controls in total. As for the worksheets, there's 4 static pages that each have a half dozen hyperlinks (I did use buttons, but replaced them with Shapes), and 2 buttons to launch various userforms.

This is fine, but the issue is the other sheets that are created and removed often by the user, each have a half dozen or so controls that launch various userforms, macros, or hyperlinks within the workbook. As these ones are being created each time the template sheet is copied, I was worried that they would add to a maximum tally.

Have fun.

So what's the problem with the user having more direct interaction?

Why are worksheets being copied? You might need some better control over how your workbook is utilized.

I generally avoid userforms. But then I used a workbook to wip up and prove complex application concepts that were then turned over to IT for generating a stable user application.

IMNSHO, Excel is a great tool for the user to interact directly with the data. Otherwise, use some other more secure and controlled system.
