Does anyone know of a maximum or recomended limit to the number of files that should exist in a Directory under NT4

Thanks

Steve

On NTFS performance doesn't degrade no matter how many files you have.

On FAT, when there are several thousand files in a directory you will notice that performance degrades.

Thanks for that

If the directory was being accessed accross the network is anything likley to be different

Steve

There is no maximum, obviously if you have a slow connection it will be slow to display.
