Max Connections

I would appriciate it if anyone can help me out with this question.

If it matters I am running apache 2.2 on solaris 10.

Is there a way that I can set a maximum amount of connections to individual vhosts without them being in a jailed or zoned environment in the first place? I don't think it can be done but I would like to get confirmation from others on this before providing a definite answer.
