I'm using CR 8.5
In my report I am grouping by {stock_no}.
Withing each group I have Purchase Orders ({PO_no}).
Each {PO_no} has a {PO_date} which is the date it was written.
I want to find the oldest and newest {PO_date} in each group.
Not sure of the easiest way to go about this. Each way I come up with makes me think there has to be an easier way.

any ideas?

Create 2 Summary field on the Date field for the group. One is Maximum and the other is Minimum.
You could use a formula or a Text Object to explain to the user what you are looking at.

ie
@Show Dates
"The oldest date for this item is "
& Minimum({yourdate},{stock_no})
& " and the latest date is "
& Maximum({yourdate},{stock_no})

Another way to do this would be just to copy your detail fields into both the header and the footer. If you have your date field sorted ascending, your minimum record will display in the header and the maximum in the footer. For the reverse display, sort by date descending.
