Hi y'all I've had MATWorX32 installed on my personal machine for over 6 months, and it connects to my PBX NEC NEAX 2000 IPS system. However, just last week it stopped connecting. I get the error message of "Can't Connect."

I have the same MATWorX installed in the server room on the Phone Server machines and it also can't connect but used to connect just fine. Any suggestions on what it might be? Thanks for your help in advance.
Erica

I connect via a LAN connection. (Sorry forgot to include that).

Sounds like the network to/from you phone switch is having some issues. Try to ping the IP address you have saved under the MATWorX profile. Do you know CAT Mode programming? If you do you can look up the IP address of the switch (0B00) to make sure the address didn't change/default.

Same here... The IT department was looking for addresses to use and assigned the one for the PABX to someone else and that was the end of that.

Hey Guys, my MatWorX still does not work. I have tried talking to the network administrator to see if there is an IP conflict and he swears up and down there isn't. I have replaced the hub, all the ethernet cables, reset the pbx, and restarted the phone servers. All to no avail. Anyone have any more good ideas?

Yes use the dial up modem and stop worrying about the lan connection. Alternately buy a lead and connect direct to the CPU. If you really want to prove the lan connect you need to try connecting closer and closer to the switch to see if there is a problem in the lan. better still start at the switch and work back.

The MAT port in the PBX is 60000. Make sure your network is not blocking it.

Take a cross over cable and connect directly to the ethernet port on the front of the MP to take the LAN out of the picture. Make sure you lock down an IP address to your pc within the same subnet as the MP before doing this.

Get a Hub, put the switche and the laptop/pc on the hub (make sure that both the phone switch and laptop/pc are off the network), and try to connect (you might have to specify an IP address in your computer if you use DHCP on your network). If you can connect through the hub, don't put the switch back onto the network. Ping the network to see if there are duplicate addresses; If you have a duplicate address, then go to network admin for another address. If you dont have a duplicate address follow what belevedere said if there are no duplicates.

Hey Guys,
I was writing to let you know that I am still having difficulty connecting to the PBX through MatWorX. I have tried everything I can think of and that you all have suggested. I have done an IP scan on my system's IP. I also did a port scan to make sure it wasn't getting firewalled. Nothing. I've shut down every machine/server that could be talking to the PBX to eliminate conflict. I've taken a cross over cable to connect directly to the M606 card, no luck. I've reset the PBX, restarted the servers. Any other suggestion? I need to be able to connect via LAN, because I have no additional modem line, so that eliminates that solution and I don't really want to connect to it via the telephone. Anyone got any more great ideas???
Thanks in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Erica

Have you tried loading matworx onto a different machine to eliminate your pc as the culprit?

OzzieGeorge, I went and tried loading it onto my bosses laptop and connecting with a cross over cable directly into the M606 card. No such luck :(
Any more good ideas?

Erica,

Till it is resolved do not put the MP(PBX) on the network.
Continue testing outside the network.

Can you Ping the PBX? remeber that the laptop/pc must be in the same subnet ask if you need help.

Which Matworx are you using?

If you can Ping try this.
from windows select
Start/Run/ in the run window type telnet x.x.x.x 60000 where x.x.x.x = the IP address of the PBX this should produce a Telnet window with the IP address then hit the / key this should result in command=.

Now you cannot program in this mode but it is a method to test the ability to do what Matworx is doing.

Mextera,

The laptop was placed on the same subnet, and given a static IP in the same range. It didn't work.

I get the telenet screen to appear, but as soon as I press any key it goes away.

Suggestions?

You have reached a point where you may have to consider it a hardware issue. Either the M-606-A card, or the CPU. Try the following suggestions:

1.Remove the gateway address in CMD 0B00>02>none, perform a flash update CMD EC6>0>0. reset the system, then attempt to connect with a PC via a hub and straight cable, or crossover cable with the gateway field left blank in your PC. The gateway may be getting in the way.

2.perform a flash update CMD EC6, then power down the system. Unseat the CPU, verify that the 4 screws attaching the M-606-A card are snug. re-install the CPU and power back up. The screws are also grounding points on the card, and sometimes a CPU card reseat fixes unexplained issues.

Thanks Beleverdere for the new ideas. I will try these and and let you know what happens. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Erica

Erica,

If you cannot keep the telnet window open "I get the telenet screen to appear, but as soon as I press any key it goes away."
Then this may be an OS problem. WHen you get the Telnet window open what is in the banner screen?

Couple of questions for you, is there anything else using the M606 card,i.e. Call Center Worx, Openworx, IP SMDR. If not then I would start by deleteing the IP address, subnet, and gateway from OB, then EC6 the switch and reboot. Then put the OB information back in, EC6 the switch and reboot. Then test using telnet to determine if it is working or not. If this does not work you may have a bad M606 card, time to call your deealer.
