Hello everyone! We have been running MAT 6.53 for several years. The hard drive bearings in the system were starting to growl, so I replaced the hard drive and used Ghost to image the old one.

Everything is running fine, except that MAT is now reporting that the dongle is missing or has an invalid serial. I did do a BIOS update on the machine while replacing the drive, which I think may be the root of the problem.

Does anyone have any recommendations on getting MAT to recognize the dongle again? I have checked all of the basics (dongle is connected, printer port is functional, etc.)

Thank you!!

the dongle serial number needs to be in your windows reg. eiter check the old one or reinstall otm

Hello Solstar,

Before doing anything drastic, check the BIOS settings and make sure the paralell port is set for two way comm. I believe the setting should be EPP, or something like it. Good luck, JK

Well, after fighting with this for over a week... I ran Matutil. It did not detect the dongle. I installed a borrowed dongle from another installation, and it WORKED.

This is sad... it looks like our dongle is physically bad. Does anyone know how to get a replacement??? I have the old bad one, but that doesn't help much. Our company relies heavily on this software.

Thank you!!

It may not be bad, it just doesn't except the SN of the Dongle your using as they are coded to the software.

The Matutil detected the other dongle (even showed me the serial). Of course, that one was not for this system, so it won't run with it. Since it was borrowed, it didn't really matter, anyways. BUT - our dongle cannot be detected by Matutil or MAT itself. It just doesn't see it. I may be somehow off base here, but if the software detects one dongle (even with an invalid serial), but not the other, then it seems that the one it cannot detect must be non-functional.

We are really freaking out over here as MAT now has our entire month's billing all locked up in its database.
