I have a subnet that includes nothing but workstations, and no server OS machines.

There is a mix of XP/W2K/NT workstations. All of the systems have the default computer browser registry settings, except for two. These are the two I would like to be the local subnet's master browser. They are running XP and have the isdomainmaster=yes in the registry. But they are still not winning the browser elections.

Any ideas?

TIA

On all of the XP/W2K/NT workstations that you don't want to be the master browser you need to disable the computer browser service. This should be all you need to do. (If you have not already) On the XP machine install the Windows2000 Support tools so you can view who is the master browser via the ==>browstat status < command

Also, one other suggestion, in the Registry change the MaintainServerList to YES on the workstations (the 2 you want to be the Master Browser)

Can I get the registry command to turn it off. Is there a way to push this command silently without user intervention?
