Hello,
Our organization is currently migrating from a mixed NetWare/Windows network, to a full blown Windows 2000/AD network. I've been assigned the job of mapping out and researching resource requirements for migrating/recreating the print queues within Windows (from NetWare). We have about 130 print queues (I know, we're a state office) and I would like to know if anyone knows the resources a server must have (formula for figuring?) in order to accomodate this load? Is it better to have a lone print server doing the grunt work for all of the queues, or shall I look into load balancing between 2 servers? NetWare could handle the print loads easily, but I'm not certain of the overhead the Windows server must have. Also, if I use a server(s) as a print server, it appears it will be memory and Disk intensive. What other AD services/roles could I add to the server, if any, that would compliment/not interfere with printing? Please Help!
