Greetings all...
I would like to be able to send an email in bulk to all or a selection of email address's in a TPS file. Is this possible? Does anyone know of a template or third party app I could for this purpose. Even a separate app into which I could import the email address's would be OK. I am currently using C6.1 but the app is Legacy.

Hi!

Clarion 6.x comes with messaging templates and there are some examples as to how they are to be used. But I am not sure whether they work in Legacy.

Have you checked for the Capesoft e-mailer.

Regards

Hi ShankarJ, thanks for pointing out something that was staring me in the face. I have had a look at the C6 messaging templates (happy to use ABC for this) and it appears to be just what I am looking for but I do get program external errors when I run the demo app. It locks on the progress window in XP and I get: Time-out Waiting for Reply > Incorrect Response, expected 220 - Response > STMP Error Connect Error - Response > Sending: Quit > Winsock Error Sending Data 10057

I appreciate my problem could be with my saved 'SMTP Mail Server Default Settings' but if you have used these templates and could give some clues as to where I am going wrong it would be greatly appreciated.

The best 3rd Party template I have used for this type of task is nettalk (capesoft)

Hi TinLegs,

Sorry. I do not use the Messaging templates of SV. I use the CHT SMTP Classes to send e-mails. If I remember correctly, I also had problems in getting it to work in C55 and turned to CHT. I have not tried the C6 ones.

The normal SMTP settings is the Mail Server IP or DNS Name and the port (normally 25). Other settings depending on the Mail Server settings are user name & password for authentication.

Regards

Thanks ShankarJ, I came across the below in Newsgroups which may explain the problem...

Message.send fails if mailserver sends a response on the "RCPT TO" command. It looks like the message.send does not check if it gets a response after sending the RCPT TO command, it just sends the DATA command and then inteprets the response as a response on the DATA command.

RudeDog928, thanks for your reply, I have had a look at Capesoft and it looks very good but I just want something simple for my own use, besides if something does not work I like the challage of trying to fix it, I find its a good way to learn.

Try Sofmasters Office Templates, It´s free, uses Outlook, you have total control over your code.
