I read two previous posts about deleting a user's voicemails in IPO.

One suggests going and deleteing their VM\Accounts\User folder. (I Like this one because they keep their greetings)
1) Do I need to restart the vmail pro service on the server for this to work? It seems to make the Voicemails go away but the phone and system still recognizes 125 of them they are just all empty or silent.

The other suggests to right click the user in Vmail Pro and clear their mailbox. (I don't like this because it clears the greetings and forward phone number, etc etc)
1) When using this method I cannot change their VM Password in manager. It continues to say password incorrect when I try to access their VM after merging the password change in manager.
2) I think I'm going to have to recreate this user unless restarting the entire control unit is needed.

How can I delete all of the VM for a single user without changing something globally or ruining their user? (IE all I want to do is delete all of their VM so the phone shows no VM.)

The only good way is by right clicking on the user and clear the mailbox.
The rest is just a bad way of doing this.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

@tlpeter
Is there a way to preserve the user's programmed user data and still right click and clear the mailbox in vmail pro?
When I rightclicked and cleared the data it was essentially the same as deleting the user. He lost his greetings and his forwarding information.
The only thing that stayed constant was his VM login password and I couldn't even change the password using the manager. I had to remove and recreate the user to be able to merge a password change for him. (To clarify it would let me click the voicemail tab and change the password and merge) but then when I logged in as the user it would say bad password. So I had him try with his old password and he got in. However the greetings were still gone.

stop VM Pro service
goto C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Voicemail Pro\VM\Accounts\<username>
delete all .wav files
edit the LASTSTAT.TXT which must have 0,0,0,0
the other txt files must be empty files
start VM Pro service

A simple mind delivers great solutions

@intrigant
Thank you for the response.
1) When I go into services.msc and stop the VMail Pro Service this will temporarily stop all Voicemail from being able to receive messages correct?
2) Will anything else be effected by this? (Ex. Loss of greetings, loss of forwarding info or other profile info for the user, loss of the ability to make phone calls while the service is off)
3) I'm assuming this will also stop all endpoint created in VMail pro like auto attendants etc until the service is turned back on?

I'm going to test this out afterhours tonight.

nothing that has to do with your voicemail will work, Auto Attendant, queued messages etc.

Give a tech a solution and he will be back tomorrow to ask you the next question, teach a tech how to read the manual and he will be able to solve the problems for a life time.
