Masking the DN (not just the display) for internal caller ID

Does anyone know if its possible to mask the actual DN from appearing in the display of the receiver's handset for internal calls.
Obviously the "display" field gives the option to show a text value, but is there a way to stop or mask the DN itself?

The business reasoning for this is for the IT Helpdesk to phone users without them knowing individual extensions.

Therefore, either I would want the DN to be masked as the helpdesk's generic DN, or I would want the DN to be hidden from the receiver (and obviously I could then have the "display" value set to the generic helpdek number with Text).

Any help, advice or suggestions will be greatly welcomed.
 
If it is not already the case you can add a secondary line to the helpdesk phones with the generic helpdesk number. When the helpdesk staff want to call a user they simply pick up the helpdesk line and make the call. Only the helpdesk number will be displayed at the other end. This is an easy work around of your problem. Just make sure you set the number of allowed calls on that line to a reasonable number.
 
Good point - didn't think of that!!!

Will do for this case, but I'd still like to know if masking the DN is possible or not - both for this Team and for my own knowledge.

Anyone else got any thoughts?

Build a Translation Pattern that has XXXX for the pattern, assuming 4 digit extensions. Inside the TP, manipulate Calling Line ID or Calling Name ID to whatever you want. Put the TP in a Partition that only the Help Desk Phones have access to as a 1st or only Internal choice. Put a CSS on the TP that will allow it to get to the rest of the phones.
