I have a picture of a bomb I created in Macromedia extreme 3D2. I want to put the bomb into a photograph in photoshop 4.0. My problem is I don't know how to make the background transparent so it disseapers when I insert the bomb into the photo.
can anyone help?
There is a quick 'n dirty way to do this... Import your bomb into PS and use the MagicWand to select around the image. Then Invert the selection and do an edit -> copy or cntl-c. Now the bomb is on your clipboard without a background. Open the file that you would like to add it to and edit -> paste or cntl-v. It will become its own layer w/o a background.
This is the fastest way to do this assuming the original image/background isn't too complex. Then you would need to maybe use the lasso tool to select it by hand.
I know that a lot of 3D programs can render the picture as well a seperate picture which is named an alpha channel. I'm not sure if Extreme 3D can. But if it can then you can load this picture in and use it to select the areas. Otherwise you can use a background color in your 3D picture which you are sure of is not in the picture. And you can do a color range select in photoshop for that color.

Good luck
