I'm very new to MAS 90 and the company I'm working at is upgrading from Win98 (finally) to win2k Pro. I cannot get MAS 90 to operate on win2k. I have ran the workstation setup program located on the old server (NT ver 4.0), on each of the new desktops and they all run the install fine. When I open MAS 90 it either just flashes a dos window and disappears, or offers up an error in a "ProvideX:Installation Window":

Configuration Mismatch - Activation Required (5714:3:317) No Valid Activation Found.

I have copies of the original installation floppies, but don't want to hose up anything by installing it on a new system. The old tech that worked here said that MAS 90 is not compatable with win2k, but that does not seem to be the case. Sage is of no help either unless we are paying them more, which is not going to happen, so I cannot even access the sage support website.

Any ideas on how to get MAS 90 up and running?
Thanks!

First I would need to know what version of MAS you are on. And if you are on MAS90, the file server version or MAS 200 the client server version. Once I know that I can tell you exactly what to do.

We are running MAS 90 Level 3, I think the version is 3.20, at least that is the most recent floppies I can find.
Also, the computers are networked fine and can communicate perfectly otherwise, that is the only answer I can find in in the other forums.

Thanks for your help!
Andy

One more thing-sorry I forgot-we are using the file server version.

How to move or copy Sage MAS 90 or 200 to a new location
Entry Type: Informational

Product: Sage MAS 90 ERP, Sage MAS 200 ERP

Application: Library Master / System Setup

Version Reported: 3.23 and later

Subject:

How to move or copy Sage MAS 90 or 200 to a different server, hard drive, or directory.

Sage MAS 90 3.71 or before:

1. Copy (do not move) the entire ..\MAS90\ directory to the new location. Moving the directory is not recommended. If there is an interruption in the move process, data can be is damaged or lost.

2. Re-run Workstation Setup at all workstations and replace any shortcut icons that point to the original location. If the new server has the same name and path as the original server, re-running Workstation Setup is not required.

3. Start Sage MAS 90 from the new location to verify that the program and the company data is accessible and that no errors occur.
Note: To verify that Sage MAS 90 is running from the new location, select File / Run / *INFO from within Sage MAS 90 and verify the path.

4. After the copy has been verified as successful, the original ..\MAS90\ directory can be deleted if desired.

Sorry, I did not make it too clear above. I am leaving MAS 90 on an existing server that does not change. What has changed is the new workstations, they are new machines and are now running win2k instead of win98. The error I get is from the new desktops (workstations) when I run the workstation install on the new desktops. I run the program directly from the server (through my network places).
So MAS 90 is not moving, just new workstations.

You must have a mapped drive to install and run MAS90. Through My Network Places will not work. This is why you are getting an error message. There is NO work around. Map a drive and get on with it.

Hey BigLouie, perhaps you can answer one for us too.
We have a customer with a similar installation to the above and are trying to install on a new XP-Pro workstation.
We have mapped an "F" drive same as the other workstations.
We browse to the appropriate folder and run the workstation setup from there.
It installs the desktop icon with exactly the same settings and switches as the other (working) workstations.
However when we try to start MAS90 from this icon we recieve the error:
Configuration Mismatch, Activation Refused.
Any ideas?

Thanks
Don

This normally indicates that the work station version is different than the server version. What version of MAS is it and is it 90 or 200. Go to the work station and find the MAS folder, go to the Home folder and see if there is a status.flp file. Open with Word Pad. See what version it is. This should be the same version as what is on the server.
