Forgive me but im quite new to MAS90.
I am the network administrator tasked with helping an end user export to excel or an excel compatible format.
Here is our issue...on trying to export the data we reach the "export file options" screen, and all options other than "Ascii text file - Report format" are not clickable and unavailable.
Any hints as to why?
Thank You

Based on what little info you have posted it is my guess that you are trying to export the results of a report on the reports menu. Also you are doing this on a module that is not on the business framework. Note that these reports are the result of programming and as such do not have the features of a report written in Crystal. So you cannot export to Excel. Just not possible.

It would help a lot more if you describe exactly what module you are in and what data you are trying to export.

I'm sorry but as i said im not actually the end user, just the IT guy tasked with helping them figure our thier issue. ill try to fill in some blanks.

They are trying to import a vendor listing from an old company in MAS90 into Dynamics Great Plains to be specific.

In printing the report, it has a screen with numerous formats for the exported data to be formatted in, beginning with the standard ASCII and also listing delimited, Excel, Lotus, dbase as options, yet we cannot choose any of them, only the ASCII, which is formatted nice for reading but basically unuseable for import to Excel or ultimately GP.

We have an excel template we were given but im not married to that if there are better alternatives.

Bottom line i need to try to export data from MAS90 into a format usable in excel or for import into GP. That;s my root issue.

Thanks for the detail because now I can give you a better answer. PULL the data with Excel. MAS is ODBC compliant so you can just open an Excel spread sheet and do a Get External Data. The data is in AP1 this is the Vendor Master File. You can also use MS Access and pull the tables into there. You will need to know a MAS user log in information.

Thanks, but if i may ask could you be a bit more specific in pointing to that data?

when you say AP1 are you referring to a folder or a file ?

i do not have a folder in the MAS90 shared folder location by that name so im hoping you are referring to file. Then again we have numerous folders in the share so i would then be wondering which folder?

sorry for being such an amatuer but this is a new app for me.

To pull MAS data via Excel: In Excel (ver 2007), Data > From Other Sources > From Microsoft Query, in the Choose Data Source screen choose SOTAMAS90. From there MAS should prompt you for a company code and MAS login info. After that, you will see all the data tables. Vendor Master will be either table AP1 or AP_Vendor depending on the version.

You can dump any MAS table data into Excel via this method as long as you have MAS login permissions. By the way, your GP reseller should be familiar with this process. Data extraction is very similar for most ERP packages.
