Looking at snotty's post I discover the need to do these additional configurations but have some queries:

1. Install SBS 2008 Rollup 3. I could not get this to run. I downloaded it to my desktop and followed the manual install instructions from MS and got "Could not open package...". However if I look at my installed updates I have a "Update rollup 4 for windows SBS KB979454". Does this cover the need?

2. I actually installed Exchange SP3 on top of SP1 without doing the recommended changes listed. Should I do these anyway? PS Exchange does seem to work (I have run and serviced the EBPA) and I can send emails.

3. Advice appreciated before I do the last three:

Fix access to Companyweb from the server
Make AutoDiscovery Work With Only a Single Host Certificate
Setup Connection Manager For VPN Access

4. Do I need to do the VPN one if I am not using it (perhaps in case later)?

Many thanks.

Thanks for your time.

PS I should point out that mine was a fresh install on a new server.

Thanks for your time.

Hi Happy Hacker.

If you have a higher rollup then you don't need rollup 3. They are cumulative.

The same applies for the Exchange Service Pack. I prefer to do SP2 first because of its strange install process. One never knows for certain what else is getting changed in the background, but you should be good.

If you don't have users using VPN, then no you don't need to set that up. Since SBS 2003 did it for you and many people do use it I feel it is an important feature. I'm currently away on vacation and used the VPN for secure access into my work network. So I see value in it. Your mileage may very.

I think the Companyweb and autodiscovery items are important ones and would recommend you do those.

I'll update the FAQ when I return home to note about Rollup 4.

I hope that helps.

Mark
