Novell Netware allows (or allowed) this, using the next ASCII codes after the alphabet, such as [:, but I don't think Windows XP supports this without Novell, but I could be wrong. Anybody got a more certain answer? BlackburnKL
AFAIK, XP won't recognize any drives/partitions past Z.
Both W2K and XP allow deep mapping (don't know any better term).
If there is already a shared drive or folder, you can map a drive directly to one of it's subfolders.
Just type it in the Path field.
I just tried it and it worked, but not while utilizing the Administrative shares (ie \\computername\c$\games won't work but \\computername\c\games does...supposing you have a share named c)
Cheers,
Jim
Question for you? Why would you need mapping for over 20 drives?? I would think that would get a bit confusing? I could be worng. I tried to make things simple.
the reason i ask, is that our organization is going through a pilot to convert all clients to XP. (roughly 2000 clients nation wide) and i'm on the client side team, so i'm thinking of questions and answers to bring to the table.
