I have two PCs on my network that all of the sudden, have to mapping drives that worked previously. I'm trying to map drives on my server which is running Windows Server 2003.

An error occurred while reconnecting H: to \\svr01\home

Microsoft Windows Network: Incorrect function.

This connection has not been restored.

I can figure out why, it's only these two pcs that won't connect to the server or let me map the drives. I tried to disconnect the drives and reconnect. I pinged the server and it reply. I'm stuck and if anyone could help it would be a great help.

Thanks

Did you disable Client for Microsoft Networks or have you run the Security Configuration Wizard too tight?

Is the 2003 server running SP1?

I didn't change any of the settings. It's 2003 server running all of the latest updates.

What happens if you ping by IP?
What happens if you ping by name?

Do you get unexpected results like below?

Yes I get those results when I ping by IP and name. The client for Microsoft networks is check off. I didn't run any security wizard.

I found your problem on the Exchange Experts page, however I'm not a member so I can't read the answer.

However, I believe you are running IPv6.

Try uninstalling that one and reboot.
The Client for Microsoft Networks should be ON.

Then try pinging again and show me the results.
If they are the same first try pinging 127.0.0.1 and give me those results too.

Good luck!

I found out that it was a bad nic card. I ended up signing up for Echange Experts. Thank you for all of your help.
