Can anyone advise on the following:

I have a WIN 2000 client machine with the user ARAXI

I would like to log-in to a SAMBA share, however I can't add the UNIX user ARAXI as it is written in uppercase, even though I can add it to my smb passwords

(/usr/etc/smbpasswd -a ARAXI)

I do however have a UNIX user called cyber with a corresponding entry in the smb passwords.

Is it therefore possible to 'map'ARAXI to
'cyber'and have access to the Share?

Users in windows 2000/XP are NOT case sensitive passwords are.

hope this helps!

Yes, you can map multiple windows users to 1 samba user. You can also map an uppercase windows user to a lowercase samba user. See my posts about username maps in thread865-556462
