I just replaced our old PDC running server2K with a new server running server 2003. I have 3 drives mapped with a basic login script bat file. that works fine. noting special 35computers roming profiles Static IP addressing.

after some time the mapped drives get red x disconnected on them. if you double click the drive or log off and back on all is well.

I was going to try the reg fix but my server is at a police department and they don't like me rebooting.

if the reg fix will work I don't mind going in early to set it and rebooting the server.

Do you know if the reg fix will work and do you have to reboot to have the reg fix take effect?

thanks
Leon

You refer to a reg fix but don't say WHAT reg fix so how are people supposed to know if it will fix your problem?

More than likely you simply need to configure the autodisconnect on both the workstation and server side.

Execute the following command on both workstations and server from a command prompt.
net config server /autodisconnect:-1

I hope you find this post helpful.

Sorry Mark
Here is the reg fix I found
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Service\lanmanserver\parameters

In the right pane, click the autodisconnect value, and then on the Edit menu, click Modify.

4. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
5. Click Hexadecimal.
6. In the Value data box, type ffffffff, and then click OK.

If I run the net config server on both the work stations and server will the configuration keep afer you shut down and restart, or do you have to run the command again after the server or work staions are rebooted?

thanks
Leon

The setting sticks after reboots. You can also just use the command I provided. They set the same thing.

I hope you find this post helpful.
