hi,
how do i map a printer that is connected to a windows print server with shared name \\newvision_server\2nd_floor_printer
from DOS?
thanks

If you want to map it to lpt1 on local computer just type:
net use lpt1 \\newvision_server\2nd_floor_printer

To delete the map:
net use lpt1 \delete

For more options type:
net use ?

can't use net use lpt1 \\newvision_server\2nd_floor_printer
its not found ???

Are you sure thats the share name? Even if it is, i dont no if so many characters are suported...

Make sure the path is right!

there is no problem mapping \\newvision_server\2nd_floor_printer in windows however the problem comes when i try to do it in a DOS machine
any help?

When you named that printer, did you get a message pop up saying DOS would not be able to access this printer? Going from memory (which isn't what it used to be), I think DOS has a 16 character limit for a share name to access.
