Hi all,

I have two servers A and B. Is there any way to map drive from B to A but not using \\IP or map to windows explorer. Anohter word, I am looking for something on Windows and it works like NFS on Unix world. I can not map drive by using \\ or Windows Explorer b/c my Oracle backup won't work b/c it recognize the map drive is a netowrk drive not local drive.

Please thoughout some ideas.

You can try the SUBST command. In Windows 2000 it might still see it as a Local Drive. I was able to test it by mapping an substing a network drive (in XP), but I'm not sure if this will work in Windows 2000, or even if your software will fall for this little trick... but it only takes a few seconds to try.

Associates a path with a drive letter.

SUBST [drive1: [drive2:]path]
SUBST drive1: /D

drive1: Specifies a virtual drive to which you want to assign a path
[drive2:]path Specifies a physical drive and path you want to assign to
a virtual drive.
/D Deletes a substituted (virtual) drive.

Type SUBST with no parameters to display a list of current virtual drives.
