I am working on Oracle 8.0.5. Sometimes when I start the machine, I get Error - > ORA-1034-Oracle Not Available. What could be wrong? How can I manually remove Oracle 8.0.5 from the system?
"ORA-1034-Oracle Not Available" simply means that Oracle did not start up when your machine re-booted. Is your wish to uninstall 8.0.5 based upon its not coming up when you re-boot the machine? That's like selling your car because the fuel tank is empty. Your problem could happen to any version of Oracle.
Now, if your wishing to uninstall Oracle 8.0.5 results from the fact that Oracle hasn't supported 8.0.5 for years, then so be it. I can post the steps to completely uninstall Oracle 8.0.5, but I'll first need to know which operating system upon which your 8.0.5 resides.
Please respond to all above.

Thanks for advising my of your operating system. Before I post the steps to uninstall 8.0.5 from Windows NT4, please put my mind at ease on the following questions:
1) Why are you uninstalling an otherwise working 8.0.5?
2) What version will you be installing in its place?
3) If the new installation is not 8.0.5, by what method do you plan to migrate your 8.0.5 data into the new installation?
4) If the new installation is not Oracle version 9i or 10g, why not?
