Manual Backup of a regular LGTO -Client 2

Hi Folks
a simple question.

A customer needs to create client initiated backups... so far no problem, i will use networker user!

But wen i will to backup in a different pool, so i have to scripts some stuff.

Who knows, how i backup the hole system to pool "xy" ?

The option "-b" seems to do what you want.

my temporary (not working) script is:

I wanna create a BACKUP_Manuell.bat -File für my user....

any idea's ?

why is not working? may be your pool doesn't meet the filters.

Run the program with added verbosity (save -v) to receive more messages. However, if it is a server related issue, you will not see it here.

Maybe the server just waits for a media from this pool - check your pendig messages in the admin GUI.

This usually means that NW can not use the arguments you provided or which the software found by itself.


Can it be that your NW version is a bit picky? - It finds
C:\WINNT\system32\ but it wants to backup
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\

There were versions which made a difference in upper and lower cases. Just try and specify a sample directory like
save C:\bla_bla

Make sure the command runs by itself before you put it inside a script.

sorry the long time i not respond... but this problem is categorie 3 or 4...

so i have try again:

now we have success to backup files, but the settings for group / pool will not work correctly. also the level of backup not run correctly

any ideas?

Look up the manpages (command line reference) for the correct syntax - the files/directories should be the LAST parametere for a save command.

so the next challenge! how i can backup system, state system db, etc. into same pool/group... ?

Alle together in a backup.bat file (i take the runas-functionality)

Again, the answer is in the manpages - believe me, you will need to lok at it from time to time.

Just add the new save set (whatever it is) to this line, separated by a 'space'. If the save set itself contains a 'space' (like 'SYSTEM STATE'), enclose the name with parenthesis (like "SYSTEM STATE:").

Unfortunateley, i just verified that if you mix a 'normal' path with "SYSTEM STATE:", the last one will not be recognized properly any moer (NW 7.2).

There is only this one set and in general it fits all OS. However, you have to be a bit flexible and translate the UNIX examples into Windows.
