After installing Mandrake Linux 9.1 on a Seagate Barracuda 20 gig h/d..........it is now DEAD...
Iwould like to get it back so I can install Windows 98 se...I've tried everything I know...with many startup programs to get it functional..so I can format it again...NO GO..
How can I get my drive back...it is now INACCESSABLE..with any software..??

DEAD!
installing software just doesnt do that.
Can you see the drive in the BIOS setup?
If you run a DOS boot disk with FDISK on can it access the drive.
Is this the only disk in the pc.
If it really is inaccessable from any software then the most likely problem is a hardware failure. Either the hard disk or the IDE controller.

The drive is partitionedinto two partitions...One of 13 gigs and one of 11 gigs..NO WAY I CAN ERASE OR REPARTITION THE DRIVE...WILL NOT LET ME TAKE ANY ACTION AT ALL..

Try and stick it in another computer as the slave. Then try remove the partitions and format the drive.

OK we get the point that it won't do what you want it to, but what programs are you trying to use and what do they say when you try to "take the action".

p.s. SHOUTING down the phone to you mechanic "MY CAR WONT GO" wont get much sorted on that front so why try it here.

Give us something more to go on or dont waste any more time, take the box down to your local PC shop and pay an arm and a leg to get things fixed.
