Mandrake 9.1 COMPLETE NEWBIE 3

Hey Everyone, i may seem like a loser trying this stuff out with no Linux Experience but i need help, dont think that i am a person bludging off your know how and work but i have tried the googling and i cant get very far

So the thing i need is, help finding tutorials on INstalling, configuring mandrake linux and i would also really like to Dual Boot it with my Windows XP professional

Any help offered by people will be gratefully accepted and would also be out of your way and big thanks is awarded in advance

One thing I did forget to mention that, MDK will ask you which boot loader you would want. I dunno abt MDK but RH9 has a choice of Grup and Lilo. I prefer Lilo. Select the one which you like.

Very good explination Basix, for this you will get a star...


Alex, just remember that you have to restart your PC after you used fdisk (i.e. You cannot format your new partitions without first restarting your PC) If you linux asks you something that you don't know, just choose the default option.

About your question on the Linux partitions "/usr, /etc"

Choose your secondary partition and then use the "Auto allocate" function. Linux will sort out and create the neccesary partitions
