As far as I thought, I set a policy to remove the locally stored profiles on my clients. But instead, i have profiles like this:

dan.domain
dan.domain.001
dan.domain.002
.
.
.

How can I get rid of them. Should I write a script and not delete the ones I wanna keep like localservice, networkservice etc...

Surely there is a way to get rid with a setting somewhere.

From the windows Resouse kit there is a utility called DELPROF It works rather well, and you can put it in script for to do it on a remote machine or locally.
