Managing two PBXs with one PC

Can I use one PC equipped with two NICs to manage my two
PBXs? Right now I need to disconnect the ELAN connection
on the first NIC for "PBX A" in order to use the Element
Manager for "PBX B" on the second NIC (and vice versa).
I tried disabling the NIC connection in "Network Connection"
rather than disconnecting the cables but it didn't work.

The PC is running on Windows 2000 Server software. It used
to be the old OTM Server for "PBX A". Disconnecting cables
is not too much of a chore but I'm sure there's something
in Windows that can make it easier. I also use it for
MICB and Callpilot and it works great (if I use it for one
PBX at a time).

I wasn't sure if this is a Data question or PBX question,
but I figured the PBX people would encounter this more.
Thanks.

I'm going to "punt" this issue to the Data/TCPIP forums.

Can you please post the pbx elan host and mask addreses in load 117.
That would be
ld 117

prt host
prt mask
prt route
Thank you

I'm beginning to think I need another route entry
something like this below? Anyway, I have the existing
LD 117 printouts on the bottom.

Thank you.

Proposed ROUTE for PBX A:
ID Network Gateway
1 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.4
2 10.0.0.4 10.0.2.0 <-- new entry

Proposed ROUTE for PBX B:
ID Network Gateway
1 0.0.0.0 10.0.10.6
2 10.0.10.6 10.0.2.0 <-- new entry

Thank you.

If you have 2 NICs in your PC and each has a static within the correct subnet (ie 1 in the 10.0.0.x and one in the 137.135.128.x) subnets and they are directly connected into those subnets, you are fine as long as there is no default gateway on either of those 2 NICs.

If you have a corresponding data network between them, you will have to work with your data team to ensure that you can route between them.

What is the physical topology?

PBX A is an Opt 81 with 2 Signaling Servers, 2 VGMC and
Telephony Manager all connected to a Cisco switch.

PBX B is a Branch Office with 1 Signaling Server, 2 VGMC,
and a Callpilot connected to a separate Cisco switch.

The two PBX are about a couple of blocks apart, but I
extended the ELAN from PBX B to be near PBX A (I got
tired of walking back and forth).

Do your sig servers have a TLAN IP or a node IP on your regular network? You should be able to browse to this address and access the element manager. You can also telnet to the Node/TLAN IP and log in with the PBX credentials and then enter cslogin at the OAM prompt. This will get you to a tty port on the PBX assuming you have PTY ports setup.

i would add a second nic card... you could do it other ways i'm sure but i perfer quick and simple

To "atascoman" - I do have a TLAN address for both PBX's
and I can access it but I'm not allowed to put the Branch
Office's Callpilot on the TLAN right now. It's accessible
through the Branch Office's ELAN, but I also need access to
the Opt 81's ELAN on the same PC.

To "johnpoole" - I do have two NIC cards in the PC that are
connected to each PBXs ELAN, but the PC won't let me use
use any of them unless I physically disconnect one of them
while I work on the other. I could possibly squeeze one
more PC on my PBX room desk and that would solve the
problem, but the desk would look like "xxxxxx".

To "rcsweet" - I'll take a look at it but if I have to pay
for any software, I don't think I'll get it approved (we're
cheap).

Thanks everyone.
