DB2 for windows/unix V8.2:
The disks are filling up with logfiles. Reading about log-strategies you can see when it is safe to "move your logs to another location" (offline archive logs).

I wonder when it is safe to DELETE offline logfiles, or, when you write them to tape, how long must the retention period be?

I would say: after an offline backup it is save to delete all the previous logs, but the documentation always advices to keep them .... WHY? HOW LONG?

How do you manage your logfiles?

The importance of your log files are answered on my question with subject "Putting The Clock Back"
