newbie alert!!

i know how to make a swatch. - make a pattern, define pattern, etc, and all looks well in the illustrator file, but when i import to quark and PDF i always have problems in printing out the page with the ill. file imported into it...

is there something i'm doing wrong?

the files with swatches i have made always end up being huge in comparison with what i think they should be- 20-30mb sometimes...

thanks

Well your message is a bit confusing, but if I understand you right you get a printing problems with files imported to quark (probably EPS files??) if they contain some patterns.
Try this: when you are done with filling your object with pattern and you are satisfied with how the pattern looks select this object and go to OBJECT>EXPAND APPEARANCE...
Than it should print fine....

[flush3] ...don't take it too seriously
