Can anybody provide me any ideas on how I would make some text that I am outputting in a window look as though it is being written out. I'm not sure if it would have to be some sort of animation or if there is some sort of trick or overlay I could apply to the text. FYI, the text I am displaying are actually images (pngs) with transparent backgrounds.

What do you mean be "being written out" exactly? Are you looking for an eraser effect, a strike-through, or something else?

Write it out character by character, with small random delays between them.

I am not sure if it is easy to use animated gifs on pictureboxes (one for each char). Only thing I don't know is how to stop animation after one complete round

Please provide sample code for what you have accomplished so far in the writing of the letters/images.

Are you looking to animate the cursor blinking plus the animation of the backspace key of what you have created? If so, why not just use a TextBox and lock the user out from interacting with the control? What is the purpose? If you have a valid reason, then that's fine, but I always vote for keeping things as simple as possible.
