I am making a report to calculate the "# of parts in stock" vs "# of parts not in stock". Overall the report is complicated because I am calculating some values in subreport and then passing the values to main report to make the decision.

*- The main variables are defined in the main report and once the decision is made the values are passed to the main variables.

*- The calculated variables are then displayed in report footer with correct values.

Now I would like to make a pie chart based on those value and I cannot see them in chart expert available field. Is there a way to make a pie chart of these variables.
thanks
ps. I am using crystal 8.5

Go to the Business Objects website->technical support->and locate a technical paper called "Charting on Print-time Formulas."

Thanks lbass for pointing me in the right direction. Unfortunately the technical paper give the solution for CR 9 and higher and I am on 8.5. The good thing is I did able to solve the problem and here is what I did.

*-Made some shared variables and pass the calculated values to them in report footer.
*- Made a subreport from another table which had a non used numeric field so the value of that field was 0. In sub report made couple of different formulas which was adding my calculated values to that field. In sub report footer made the pie chart based on those formulas and hide everything else.

Now it works like a champ.
Thanks again
